At CODE, You’re Well Looked After

27 January 2026

We support your life, and your growth

Studying abroad, many students quickly realise that life itself can be more challenging than their studies. Finding accommodation, managing bills, adjusting to a new culture and way of living, all while trying to make friends, settle into a new environment and pick up new skills. Each of these things can quietly add to the pressure.

At CODE, we aim to remove some of that uncertainty. Beyond providing a safe and comfortable place to live, we offer a wide range of support designed around students’ everyday lives and personal growth. Our goal is to help every student navigate their time abroad with greater confidence, to study better, live more comfortably, and feel better prepared for the future.

We’ve delivered all the following activities as part of our “Events Programme”  and even use student feedback each year to see if students would like other help and advice. Every single session was delivered for free – giving you real value for money if you live at CODE.

1. CV Guidance Tailored to the UK Job Market

We’ve noticed that many students focus on sending out as many CVs as possible, without fully understanding what UK employers are actually looking for.

That’s why we host dedicated CV guidance sessions, designed to introduce students to UK recruitment expectations and hiring practices. During these sessions, we explore how CVs are typically reviewed, what makes a candidate stand out, and how to present skills and experience in a way that resonates with UK employers.

Students are also guided on how to translate their strengths and experiences into clear, compelling content, helping their CVs stand out in a competitive job market.

2. Study Skills & Motivation Sessions

University life in the UK can move fast. When coursework, exams and daily life collide, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

To help students find their own rhythm, CODE invites professionally trained mentors to lead study skills and motivation sessions. These sessions focus on practical strategies such as time management, effective revision techniques and note-taking tips suited to the UK higher education system.

Students from different academic and cultural backgrounds come together to share experiences, exchange ideas and support one another, helping everyone stay motivated and work towards completing their studies more efficiently.

3. CPR and First Aid Training

To ensure students gain truly practical safety skills, we invited The Adam Redfern Memorial Fund, a UK university-based organisation, to deliver CPR training sessions. Students are introduced to what CPR is, why it matters, and how it is performed, with opportunities to practise key steps in simulated scenarios.

In addition, CODE also runs First Aid training sessions, led by trained professionals. These sessions cover how to respond to common everyday situations, such as minor injuries or sudden illness, giving students the confidence to act appropriately when it matters.

Through these sessions, we hope students feel better prepared to stay calm, respond effectively, and feel more secure during their time living in the UK.

4. HIIT & Pilates Classes: Supporting Body and Mind Through Movement

Regular movement plays an important role in managing stress and maintaining balance during busy study periods. To support students’ physical and mental wellbeing, CODE offers HIIT and Pilates classes led by qualified fitness professionals, conveniently held within the accommodation.

HIIT sessions help improve fitness levels and focus, while Pilates places emphasis on posture, breathing and controlled movement. With professional guidance, students can exercise safely, release physical tension and gradually clear their minds, making space to reset and recharge.
