Student Ambassador, Hansini – Did I choose CODE or did CODE choose me?

04 September 2025

When people ask me why I decided to book at CODE for my last two years of uni, I don’t really have a proper answer. Maybe it was the competitive prices, maybe the staff’s hospitality, or maybe it was just pure geographical convenience. Whatever it was, I just know I wouldn’t regret it.

Living in uni dorms for my first year was… an experience. I lived with amazing, unique people, learnt new things, and embraced different cultures – but honestly, nothing will ever compare to having your own space. That independence was probably one of the biggest reasons I chose CODE, and the fact that they could offer me that, made me choose them without any hesitation.

Of course, some people might say that means loneliness or boredom, but let’s be real – the weekly parties and activities CODE hosts put those worries to shame.

And I cannot mention the gym enough. As someone who’s been on a weight-loss journey for almost a year now, the convenience of having a gym and included in the price – absolute magic. It means I can finally focus on myself without stressing about travel costs or gym memberships. What also stood out to me, though, was the sense of inclusivity at CODE. Radiating straightaway from the staff I met on my tour, to their social media, there’s a genuine welcoming vibe that makes you feel like you belong. And I can’t wait to experience that for myself.

Ok, let’s move on. When I lived in the dorms last year, one of the biggest struggles was the lack of late-night food. My options were either ordering in (which comes with its own headaches, as you know) or trekking to a supermarket that was a 10-minute walk away. And let’s be real—I was never making a 20-minute round trip at 11 pm. At CODE I’ve got a Morrisons Daily and a Tesco Superstore right around the corner, a huge advantage!

Nonetheless, I think overall, it just comes down to having my own kitchen and decorating my space, just to finally have an area I can call ‘mine’. This is super cliche, but like for real, CODE isn’t just about accommodation, it’s literally a channel for my independence, balance, and a cosy little place I can call home.
