Travelling during the Christmas Period

20 December 2024

Time really flies! Christmas will be here in under one week.

Do you have any special plans? Are you heading home to reunite with family? Celebrating Christmas and New Year with friends in other cities? Or perhaps staying at CODE to revise for exams after the holidays, especially if you are an International student?

Whatever your plans may be, we’d like to remind everyone to check the public transportation schedules in advance. They are often adjusted around Christmas time, and most services will stop running on Christmas Day. To help you plan ahead, we’ve gathered some useful websites.

On this website, you’ll find the specific arrangements for all train companies during the Christmas period:

Christmas and New Year 2024/25 | National Rail | National Rail

For bus schedules in Coventry, check this site:
Christmas and New Year services | NX Bus Coventry

For bus information in Leicester, visit this website:

Christmas service levels — Leicester Buses

Most English supermarkets and high street stores will also be closed on Christmas Day (25th Dec) and some on Boxing Day (26th Dec) and New Year’s Day (31st Dec). Many others will have shortened hours on Christmas Eve (24th Dec) and New Year’s Eve (31st Dec) so please check your local supermarket and make sure they are open.

Also, a friendly reminder to all travellers: please remember to check the weather. The next week looks like a mix of sunshine, rain and mist!

We’d also like to wish all of our tenants a Merry Christmas and a joyful holiday season in advance.
