CODE Community Support Group – Week 21 – Fear of failure

01 April 2021

We have been putting on our support group sessions for almost 6 months, and as the country moves on its roadmap out of lockdown, now is the time for us to adapt.

We still want to support students and give them the help they need, that’s why, from WC 5th April we are launching our CODE Support Sessions.

Between 1pm & 3pm every Wednesday for Coventry and between 2pm & 5pm every Thursday for Leicester you can book a 121 session with a trained psychotherapist and get the help you need.

We are offering you the chance to book these online or in-person, whichever you feel most comfortable with.

All sessions are strictly private and confidential, so don’t feel concerned. All you need to do is book a slot by clicking here for Coventry and here for Leicester.

Please book by 5pm the night before in order to secure your place.

For our final support group session, we covered a topic that had been frequently requested… fear of failure.

Looking at the top things that cause fear of failure, how it holds you back and how to overcome it.

What causes fear of failure?

  • Patterns from childhood
  • Perfectionism
  • Over-personalisation
  • False self-confidence

How does the fear hold you back?

  • Unhealthy culture
  • Missing out on opportunities
  • High achievers become losers
  • Loss of creativity

How do you overcome it?

  • Figure out where it comes from
  • Reframe beliefs about your goal
  • Learn to think positive
  • Look at the worst-case scenario
