Things got Spooktacular at one of CODE’s favourite times of the year. Our resident ghosts and ghouls crept down for a howling social night, filled with Halloween themed games, quizzes, pumpkin carving and frightfully delicious treats from Whamys including an eye-popping Halloween punch.
Our ghosts and ghouls indulged in pin the bolt on Frankenstein, a nail-biting quiz with one team sinking their teeth on the £50 cash prize!
As the pumpkins were out in full force, and as part of CODE’s effort on responsibly enjoying the festivities. We’re recycling all the pumpkins from our social night to The Wild Life Trusts fields for our wildlife to feast on. The Guardian reports that this week 18,000 tonnes of pumpkins will be thrown away to rot in landfills.
We’ve also carved up our easy pumpkin soup recipe to help make use of your leftover pumpkins, whilst also warming up your cold autumn evenings.
1. Place cut and peeled pumpkin, onion, garlic, broth and water into a pot;
2. Boil rapidly for 15 minutes until pumpkin is very tender;
3. Transfer to blender to blitz smooth; and
4. Adjust salt and pepper to taste, then either add milk or cream – whichever you prefer.
Don’t forget the hot buttered crusty bread for dunking!
