What to do if you are arriving out of hours

06 September 2019

Moving into your flat is really exciting – with a whole new space for you to make your own. But if you’re arriving outside of our normal office hours, you might be a little bit worried about how it will all work.

But there is no need to panic. We’ve pulled together a number of helpful tips to make out of hours check in go as smoothly as possible.

  • Make sure you know the address of your accommodation.
Make a note of the building address.

CODE Coventry

Fairfax Street

Coventry CV1 5RQ

CODE Leicester

40-46 Western Road

Leicester LE3 0GH

We also recommend you use an online map app such as Google or Apple Maps to find out where we are based.

  • Decide on how you are going to travel to CODE

If you’re arriving by car there is on-street parking outside the Leicester and Coventry buildings that can be used out of hours. Cox Street Car Park is a 24 hours car park which is open behind our Coventry building and only costs £1 between 6pm and 8am.

If you’re arriving by train, we advise taking a taxi or uber from Leicester/Coventry train station. It is a short drive (5-10 minutes) to the CODE building.

If you are arriving in Coventry by bus, the main Pool Meadow Bus Station is just a few minutes’ walk from our building. In Leicester, the nearest bus stops are “Ruding Road” and “West Bridge Ruding Road”. Most of the city is safe, but at night be conscious of your personal safety. Stick to well used areas, do not take short cuts and walk briskly and with confidence.

If you’re an international student, each university offers its own advice on transport links and how to travel to the city. But remember to make your way to the CODE building and not the university campus or accommodation.

  • Make sure we know what time you’re arriving

Our CODE Offices are open between 9am and 5.30pm Monday-Saturday. If we know you’re arriving outside of these hours, we can make sure our Security Team are ready to let you into your room. They will unlock your room for you and give you chance to move all your luggage in.
You should be fine leaving your room unlocked for a short period if you are going back and forth but for your own security please keep any cash/high value items with you or put them in the safe in your room.

  • Contact security if you want to go out
We won’t be able to issue your keys until you have been to the Office and completed a few bits of paperwork. However, if you want to go out, our Security Team can come and lock your room for you. You will find their number on a fridge magnet in your room or you can add them to your phone now:

Coventry: 07719 314601

Leicester: 07512 074209

  • Don’t worry if you’ve forgotten the essentials
You may have packed the big stuff but if you’ve forgotten anything else you need, our Security Team have a few of the essentials. Just ask if you need:
  • A bottle of water
  • Toilet rolls
  • Some bedding items, such as bed covers and duvets.

We will have provided you with a mattress protector and you are welcome to use this to help protect your mattress from stains. This will be at a charge of £10.00 payable with your next rent instalment. If you choose not to use the mattress protector, please return it unopened to the CODE Office when you collect your keys.
