World Environment Day

05 June 2019

Our collective responsibility for the care of our environment is a very prevalent issue at the moment and with this year’s World Environment Day we wanted to highlight some of the actions we are taking to reduce our impact.

‘Fast Fashion’ has been cited as one of the world’s biggest polluters; Last year, in the UK alone 235 million pieces of clothing were sent to landfill!

As such we have teamed up with Cancer Research UK to place donation stations in all of our accommodation blocks, we will also be delivering you all a bag, in which you can place any items (Clothing, Shoes, Books, Films and other household items) which will be used to raise money for Cancer Research UK. If you require any additional bags, please speak with a member of staff.

According to one study, there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish by 2050!

As a small step towards moving towards a plastic free future, we have banned single use plastic bottles in our offices and our CODE Cafe, staff are now opting for reusable glass or aluminium bottles and tap water.

That is not to say you can’t use plastic bottles, just make sure you use the Recycling bins on site to dispose of them in. (Do check the labels and the signs on the bins to ensure the items can be recycled)

Our accommodation sites require a huge amount of energy to power and run and as such, 100% of the energy we use is from renewable sources only!

These are a few small steps we are making towards committing to become a more sustainable and eco friendly company, if you have any suggestions for us please let us know.
